Electronics Cleaning and Recovery After Water, Fire or Smoke
Do not plug it in. Water and soot inside electronics cause shorts and corrosion. Let us look at it first.
A person answers 24/7.
What you can expect from us
- A real person answers the phone 24 hours a day, and we can often be on site within a few hours.
- We work with every insurance company and document the damage for your claim.
- Ajaxx is an IICRC Certified Firm, which means our technicians are trained to the industry's cleaning and restoration standards.
After water, fire or smoke damage, unplug your electronics and do not turn them on. Soot is acidic and conducts electricity, and water causes shorts and corrosion. We clean and dry many TVs, computers, game systems and office equipment, then test them. What cannot be saved is listed for your claim.
What to do right now
- Unplug the device if you can do it from a dry spot.
- Do not turn it on to check if it works.
- Do not put it in rice.
- Keep it somewhere dry and move it away from soot.
Why more than turn it on?
If water or soot got inside, turning a device on can short the circuit board. Soot from a fire is acidic and slowly eats at metal contacts, even if the device seems fine at first. Cleaning before power-on gives it the best chance.
What we work on
- TVs, computers, laptops and monitors
- Game systems, audio equipment and speakers
- Printers, routers and office equipment
- Small appliances and some large ones
- Business equipment such as point-of-sale systems and phone systems
How the process works
- Document. We photograph each item and record its make, model and serial number.
- Open and inspect. We look for water, soot and corrosion inside the case.
- Clean. We remove residue from boards and components with methods made for electronics.
- Dry. We dry the parts in a controlled way.
- Test. We power the item on only after it is clean and dry, and record whether it works.
What if it cannot be saved?
Some items are not worth the cost of cleaning, or are too far gone. We tell you which ones and why, and we list them with photos for your claim.
Your data
If a computer or phone holds files you need, tell us now. Recovering the data may matter more than saving the device.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can water-damaged electronics be repaired?
Sometimes. It depends on the water, how long it sat and whether the device was turned on while wet. Cleaning and drying before power-on gives it the best chance.
Does putting electronics in rice work?
Rice does not clean out minerals or soot and does little to dry the inside. It is better to keep the device off and have it cleaned.
Can smoke damage electronics?
Yes. Soot is acidic and can conduct electricity. It settles inside cases and on circuit boards and causes corrosion over time.
Do you clean business electronics?
Yes. We clean office equipment, computers and other business electronics, and we can schedule around your hours.
